Destiny Beta is Now With Us…I Have Something to Play

So we haven’t been very active lately.  Apologies people, but like we have always said we aren’t a gaming news blog.  We only produce content when it’s enjoyable.  We don’t get much joy out of posting pointless gameplays and commentaries just to keep up with everyone else trying to make it as a YouTube super star.  We are currently in the early days of a new console generation, but with all the heavy hitters coming this fall you can expect a little more action at weRgamerz.

We will start with the Destiny beta this week.  This game has been at the top of our list since last year.  This isn’t a promise of content, but I (Wes) will be recording some gameplay.  If I come up with a commentary worth sharing then I’ll just post it on here, but if not I may just wait a little bit longer to get back on my YouTube mission.  I’ve watched gameplay online when Playstation player got access, and it was pretty boring to watch (in my opinion).

Are any of you playing right now?  Will you be playing the beta this week?  Add me on live, and maybe we can get a session in (WesdaRuler).

What Will You be Playing Next Week?

Well people, the hype is alive and well in my circles.  It seems all of my friends will have Titanfall the minute it releases.  I expect to see plenty of Titans falling on Tuesday, but for the people  not into that what will you be playing next week?  I know that Dark Souls 2 will also be releasing on the same day.  I’ve been looking at the new Plants vs. Zombies.  Might give that a shot this weekend.  I also read that Call of Duty: Ghosts’ multiplayer will be free this weekend for Xbox One & 360.  No harm in finally giving that game a try.

As for weRgamerz updates:

Expect a couple of uploads this weekend.  As I’ve stated before, I have switched to more of a once a month kind of thing.  I don’t know how many videos will be released at once, but I let them all go at one time, and run away for the rest of the month.

If Titanfall Don’t Make Your Boat Float

There’s is not escaping the Titanfall shadow folks.  People are REALLY excited about this game, but for the people who aren’t getting it do not worry!  Here a few other games coming out between now and the end of March.

Titanfall commentary/gameplay

Of course, there are other games coming out over the next several months (Destiny beta being at the top of my list), but I’ll let you Google them on your own time.  If I’m in the mood to break my console, I’ll pick up Dark Souls 2 for sure.  I also own BF4.  Maybe I’ll give that game another run.

Titans WILL be falling next month though.

The New weRgamerz Youtube Channel

The video sums it up pretty well.  I hope you guys come over, but thank you to everyone who have watched us.  We have been around for more than a year, and I’ve made real friends through this channel.

I hope to make more!

Our Youtube Channel

A Change in Scope

Intro-2b (1)

It’s been a fun but bumpy road for the weRgamerz crew.  When DC and I came together to start this DC wasn’t working full time, and I wasn’t a father.  Fast forward to now and well….everything changed.  Time is a precious thing.  It’s funny how today I can share a blog post with (potentially) millions in a matter of seconds, but still can’t find the time to write it.  I had big dreams for where this brand was going.  I still believe we can get there, but I can’t do it alone…at least not in it’s current state.

I don’t want to get into the business of over promising and under delivering.  That just isn’t my thing.  I’ve tried to fix things by adding another blogger, but we all suffer from “noTIMEatALL” problems.  So, I’ve decided to re-visit the scope of weRgamerz.  I don’t want to quit entirely because it’s fun sharing these stories with you.  It’s fun doing the commentaries and sharing my gameplay.  The love (and hate) messages I receive on YouTube were sometimes the highlight of my day!

I (Wes) will start back making posts on YouTube via a NEW weRgamerz channel.  Our current channel has some weird issues that we tried to work out with Google/YouTube, but we don’t have enough subscribers for them to care.  I know this pretty much means I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN, but maybe that’s a good thing.  It will give me a fresh start in a way as the content will be a little different.  I will post a mix of Xbox One and Wii U footage…let me explain before you give me the “F Wii U” talk.  I will NOT be posting Super Mario or Zelda lets plays.  I will not torture you like that.  The Wii U footage will most likely end up being funny intros or outros…..though an occasional rage sessions might be shown for your entertainment.  My posts will not be weekly like I attempted in the past.  I will probably only post 1-2 times a month.  This has a lot to do with lack of time, but I believe this will also make the commentaries a little more interesting.  I will have more to talk about in a short period of time.  Also notice I said Xbox One above.  I currently plan on holding off until Titanfall is out.  If BF4 was such a technically terrible game maybe I would’ve have made the jump sooner.  In the meantime, I might post some of my BF4 matches from the Xbox 360 jus to have SOMETHING up.

I will still posts random gaming news that I find interesting.  We still don’t have any plans of becoming a news source for you.  We will start to become a hub for YouTube gaming videos and commentaries.  This will not just be my content.  I will be featuring other channels.  One in particular will be my IGZ family (check us out!).  There will be plenty of others also.  I will try my best to pick low profile channels with high quality content.  I will also start back doing my “Gamerz Talk” audio blogs and loading them here.  This will be once a month.

Thank YOU

To anyone who takes the time to read a post, or watch even a minute of a video…thank you.  You don’t have to share your time with us, and trust me we have a HUGE respect for your time.  I hope you all will continue to run with us in our new form.  At the end of the day, weRgamerz is passion rather than a job.  A hobby I love.  I don’t really care if it takes off and becomes a viable business.  I just want it to be fun (which it is!).

The Wii U: The Perfect Second Console

I picked up a Wii U close to it’s release date.  I wanted…no NEEDED Monster Hunter in my life.  I also picked up Super Mario Bros U just because….well because.  For about a month or two my Wii U got some heavy play time.  I loved it, and was very happy with my purchase, but that wore out soon after.  As usual, Monster Hunter didn’t get strong support in the US, and even thought Mario Bros U was (and is) a great game, it’s still Mario.  I got bored, and didn’t have any other games to turn to.  So, I boxed up that sucker and jumped back into the world of Xbox via my 360.  Now I know what some of you are thinking.  “The Wii U doesn’t have any games (at that time anyway) so of course you stopped playing it.  It sucks!!!”  Was I right?  Is this what some of you were thinking?  If so you aren’t getting it yet.  Let me finish my story….

I suck at this game and rage often

I play Xbox 360 (and games in general) for two reasons.  To hang out with some of my friends, and I love games.  Pretty much all of my buddies own the Xbox 360, so that was my console of choice.  Halo changed our lives back in the day…anyway.  We generally buy the same games so we can run together.  We all enjoy shooters so…well we play a lot of shooters.  First person is usually our go to, but we do manage to get into some third person games as well.  I used to really be into Ghost Recon.  I believe that Black Ops 2 and Battlefield 3 where the shooters of choice back when the Wii U was just coming out.  We played more BF3 than anything, and I was pretty good at it.  The homies and I would meet up every Friday and Saturday night and play session after session.  Good times indeed.  While this was going on, other games were coming out.  The Wii U especially was starting to pick up some steam on the software side.  This was a good thing since the first few months after launch were awfully dry.  Still, even with just the two games I owned I still managed to get time in to rage play some Mario.  It was a nice break from the usual FPS fest….

The next generation is coming up quick!  It’s now September, and if you aren’t excited about PS4/Xbox One, you are probably jumping up and down for BF4, GTA V, COD: Ghosts, and etc…etc.  I was very excited for the potential that was Grand Theft Auto Online.  I knew this game was going to be it.  At the same time, I was growing increasingly tired of my usual gaming lineup.  Shooter, Shooter, Sports, Shooter.  I was becoming exhausted with the overcrowded genres and was looking for something else to get into and it wasn’t just me.  The crew I ran with on BF3 went from 10 people every night to 4 or 5 on a good night to just me and DC.  We were all facing genre fatigue.  What made it worse is I still wanted to play games!  I would search online and at Gamestop hoping to find something that would grab my attention, but didn’t have much luck at first.  I looked over the Xbox 360’s massive lineup and couldn’t find one game of interest that I hadn’t already played during other times of genre fatigue.  The PlayStation 3 wasn’t looking any better.  Oh well, guess I’ll just keep playing Batttlefield…or at least I thought I’d be able to keep playing.  BF4 turned out to be a technical cow turd.  The game was just awful.  Shit just didn’t work.  My rage meter was threw the roof. I considered just going ahead and making the jump to Xbox One.  I wanted the system just for the upgrades alone.  I even got as far as packing up my Xbox 360 with the full intention of selling it off to the highest buyer.  I was just ready to move on man!  Mind you it’s  holiday season by this time, and every year I take a look at the things I have and sell off unused gadgets on Ebay.  It’s kinda my thing.  So while I was scavenging the house looking for sellable goods I come across my dusty Wii U.  I forgot I even owned this thing….

The savior of my gaming sanity

The savior of my gaming sanity

It’s been a good while since I gave Nintendo’s console a good run.  I don’t even know what games are out.  Lets take a quick look on the infonet…..woah!  Super Mario 3D is being called one of the best Mario games EVER??  They re-made the one version of Zelda I never got to play?  Looks like I found the break I’ve been looking for! It was a hard decision, but I choose Zelda over Mario.  Mainly due to the fact I’m cheap $10 difference in price.  When I finally managed to get some time to play this game I was almost instantly revitalized.  The mix of new game and childhood nostalgia was strong in this one.  This feeling is the reason I will never review a Wii U game just because the thing would be so overwhelming bias positive that it’s just pointless.  That’s when I realized why the Wii U was such a great purchase.  Sad that it took a WHOLE YEAR to figure it out, but what can you do?

Not every person in the world will have this problem.  Some people pop in a disc, play for an hour, and are completely satisfied.  Some peeps just love certain genres and games and don’t care to mix it up or venture out.  Nothing wrong with any of that, but that’s just not me.  I need a healthy mix.  No one genre can keep me forever and if your are anything like me having a Wii U under your preferred gaming box is highly recommended.  None of the other consoles have or will have anything remotely close to what is available on the Wii U.  The console and it’s games just give off a whole different kind of vibe entirely, and it’s a nice break from what I consider “the norm” in console gaming.  I don’t think the Wii U has the power to stand on it’s own.  At least not for a large part of the market, though I can see how some people would be completely satisfied just owning it exclusively.  I will say this though:  Having a Xbox One/PS4 + a Wii U is a million times better than keeping your PS3/Xbox 360.

Happy Holidays! How’s Next Gen Treating You?

My son’s face while I sing to him lol

November has come and gone.  The next generation of console gaming is HERE!!!!  How are you enjoying it so far?  I haven’t been able to spend much time enjoying the pleasures of Xbox ons due to me currently enjoying the many pleasures of parenthood.  My first child is now four months old, and between him, my wife, work, school, and personal hobbies I haven’t been able to commit the kind of time I’ve wanted to commit to weRgamerz.  Rest assure that we are still around.  I have a commentary going up tomorrow night in fact, but that is neither here nor there…I want to know about your new consoles!

I have neither the PS4 or Xbox One currently.  I have had the opportunity to play both extensively though.  I will save my opinions on the two for my upcoming commentaries, but I am curious on how some of you feel about them currently.  Was it worth it?  Are you having fun with your new PS4/Xbox One?  What has been your favorite launch title so far?  Just tell me EVERYTHING!!!  I decided to hold off on picking up either system this year.  Neither had a game that I wanted to play right away.  I have managed to dust off my Wii U recently.  Super Mario 3D World is one of the best games I’ve had the pleasure of playing in a loooonng time.  I will also be picking up the Windmaker, Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3 over the next couple of months.  These should hold me over until Titanfall and Destiny come out next year.

Let me know how great your new console is!

Happy Holidays!!!

Xbox One Dashboard is incredible!

So as I was opening my Day 1 edition console..I didn’t know what to expect…all I knew at the time was that the box felt like it had bricks inside. After the unboxing, and going through the mandatory day 1 update..I was finally at the dashboard of my brand new Xbox One. I was blown away at the organization of it, the huge amount of apps and how fast and seamless it seemed to be. I of course immediately went to download Killer Instinct and was pleasantly surprised to find a fairly quick download that allowed me to start playing the game at only 75% completion. I remember hearing about Xbox Fitness, a fantastic app with free workouts to Xbox Live Gold members with tons of different workouts and achievements for working out…count me in! One of my favorite features is that at anytime during a game you can hit the Xbox Home button at the top of the Xbox One controller and at anytime you can view your dashboard all while the game remains paused to watch a movie, start a download or whatever you want to do..when you are ready to resume play just go to the game icon and it takes you right where you left off. There is so much more to get too, and there will be a video tomorrow with much more in depth coverage and analysis of this amazing dashboard!

Next Gen is HERE…..why I’m not here with it.

Next Gen

I’ve checked out both the PS4 and Xbox One reveals. My reaction….hglahkghdlhhfjhfjhbkaj!!!! These “thangs” here! I got to have one. Where can I preorder? I have a personal agenda against Gamestop (they are NOT for gamers or their employees for that matter!!) so I ran with Amazon. The plan right now is to get both. I don’t appreciate missing out on good games due to dedicating my soul to one devil console. “1000 in one month doesn’t sound to smart Wes. You are expecting a baby in July. Plus….you’re already pretty broke without said baby.” Damn! I’m right…I am broke. I have to choose. Granted I will just by the other one later, but I want them both right away!

After some careful thought and meditation my decision…Xbox One. Both consoles are perfect in many ways. The games that each have coming over the next year or two look promising, and Sony finally fixed their controllers which was my only gripe with them. Still, the Playstation 4 didn’t have a lot of the other features that the Xbox One was showing off or they weren’t showing them off at the time. The entertainment aspect of the Xbox One proved to be an easier sell to my wife. I could spend $400 just to play games or spend $500 to play games and control my TV, stream countless apps, and play games. Yea my wife loves the TV. Plus I lose my tv remote a lot. The son will love some of the Kinect games….yes this will be a way easier sell.

Man…babies are expensive. I think I’ve bought 2 Xbox Ones worth of formula over the past two months. When I made this preorder we had a freaking stash of diapers….we still have that stash but he has outgrown them. I see my savings slowing dying…how am I going to pay for this next gen console greatness?? I could sell this, stop buying that, and save up on the such and such….but it is just a game console. Dammit!!! Don’t do this to me life! I don’t like having proper priorities! Let me carelessly buy this Xbox One. I NEED it!!!! Sigh….I do have my Xbox 360 still. I could just run with that for a lil while longer. Man…I really wanted to play BF4…wait that’s on the Xbox 360. Well I hate that I will miss out on Titanfall….oh that’s on the 360 too? Well Destiny is the one to look out for…dammit!!! Are you telling me there is no rush to go next gen??? That my family and financial standing is more important than 60 frames per second and “Xbox, on”? Nah bruh….

Man this is tough. Amazon is asking….”Are you sure you want to cancel your DAY ONE XBOX ONE?” Why couldn’t you just cancel when I clicked cancel? Now I have to meditate all over again. No Wes, you know this is the right thing to do. There, I’ve canceled…that wasn’t that bad. Grand Theft Auto comes out next week! I’m good man! What do I tell people though? I told everybody I had my preorder months ago. Even ran my big mouth on the Youtube. Aw man….well there are plenty of logical reasons I guess. The first batch usually is the worst batch. Who wants a system just to send it back due to manufacturing issues right? The launch line up on both isn’t that strong anyway…but I want a uuuUUUUUTTTTttrrrraaaa COMBOOOOOO!!!! Oh well, it will still be around when I pick it up. Plus I still got my trusty Xbox 360 and a promise of support for the next two years. No way Microsoft will drop us like they did Zune, WP7, Silverlight, and etc… Yea, this sounds good. I’ll just run with that.

COD: Ghosts is….Ghost on our Channel

Usually our resident COD expert DC One is all over these games, but it seems this time things are different.  It’s looking like we won’t have any Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay on our channel.  I (Wes) have managed to get DC so hooked into the Battlefield universe…he doesn’t want to share time with other games!  We will have our BF4 Gamer Talk up tomorrow if that helps!  I have been looking at COD Ghosts myself, but all opinions have been 50/50 so far.  They either love it or hate it, so I’m stuck on the fence with this one.  Either way I just wanted to get the word out to all of you.

Should we pick up Call of Duty Ghosts?  Are we missing out??
